The build up to 'Phase Two' of the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets underway this coming Tuesday with the release of the first trailer for Iron Man 3, and thanks to the official Iron Man Facebook page, we now have a brief seventeen-second tease of the trailer, which gives us our very first look at footage from the hotly-anticipated sequel:

Directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Iron Man 3 sees Robert Downey Jr. reprising the role of Tony Stark to do battle with his arch-nemesis, The Mandarin (Ben Kinglsey; Sexy Beast), in an adaptation of the 'Extremis' story arc from the pages of The Invincible Iron Man. Here's the official synopsis:
"Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?"
Reprising their roles for the sequel alongside Robert Downey Jr. are Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Don Cheadle as Rhodey, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan and Paul Bettany as the voice of JARVIS, while newcomers to the Marvel Universe include Guy Pearce (Prometheus) as Aldrich Killian, Rebecca Hall (The Town) as Maya Hansen, James Badge Dale (The Lone Ranger) as Eric Savin / Coldblood, Ashley Hamilton (Sunset Beach) as Jack Taggert / Firepower, Xuegi Wang (Bodyguards and Assassins) as Chen Lu and William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption) as Sal Kennedy.
Iron Man 3 is scheduled to arrive in the UK on April 26th, 2013, ahead of a North American release on May 3rd.![]()
