Idris Elba has firmly established himself as a Hollywood A-List actor having starred in blockbusters such as Kenneth Branagh's Thor and Ridley Scott's Prometheus, to name but two. However this hasn’t stopped the Hackney born actor from creating a highly successful dark, psychological crime TV series called Luther, in which he plays the role of John Luther, a rather obsessive, dangerous detective who often bends the law to bring the bad guys (and gals) down.
Luther has been a huge success both in the UK and the U.S., with Elba collecting a prestigious Golden Globe Award this year for his portrayal as the haunted detective. After two seasons of the show we still do not have a confirmed date for the start of the already commissioned third season; however thanks to the Luther Facebook page Elba has given fans a tease (an extremely brief tease) to at least let us know that things are moving forward with the third season...
The Brit is certainly keeping himself busy with a number of upcoming projects such as No Good Deed and the Nelson Mandela biopic Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, where he will be starring alongside Naomie Harris (Skyfall). And of course there's also the hotly anticipated Thor: The Dark World from director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), where he will reprise his role as Heimdall.
