During the New York Comic Con last weekend, Warner Bros. announced three new animated projects for release next year, with the latest two instalments of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line - Superman: Unbound and Justice League: Flashpoint - joined by the very first Lego Batman feature, Lego Batman: The Movie - DC Superheroes Unite, which received its first official trailer last night courtesy of Warner Home Entertainment.
Based upon the hugely successful Lego Batman video game series (or more specifically, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes), the animated movie sees Batman and Robin teaming up with their pals in the Justice League to combat the combined threat of the Joker and Lex Luthor. If you've played the video game, then the trailer below is going to look very familiar indeed, which probably has something to do with the fact that it's entirely comprised of cut scenes from within the game.
Lego Batman: The Movie - DC Superheroes Unite will be released next year, along with Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 [watch that trailer here], so it seems there's still plenty on the horizon for Batman fans to look forward to despite the Caped Crusader's big screen hiatus post-The Dark Knight Rises.
