With cameras rolling on the first season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as it edges closer towards its September premiere, we should probably expect to hear plenty of casting announcements for recurring and guest roles on the Joss Whedon-produced Avengers spin-off over the coming weeks. And to get us started, TV Line has revealed that David Conrad (Ghost Whisperer, CSI: Miami) has landed a recurring role in the ABC show, and while his character is being kept under wraps, the site notes that "the show has been casting the role of a brilliant and quirky scientist that matches Conrad’s description (i.e. male in his 40s)."

Now, whether this is an original character, or a familiar face from the Marvel universe, I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to get underway in the States on September 24th, with Marvel Cinematic Universe favourite Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Coulson) leading a cast that includes Ming-Na Wen (Stargate Universe) as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton (Killing Lincoln) as Agent Grant Ward, Iain De Caestecker (Filth) as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge (The Thompsons) as Agent Jemma Simmons and Chloe Bennet (Nashville) as Skye. J. August Richards (Angel) is set to feature in the Whedon-directed pilot episode, which also sees Cobie Smulders reprising the role of Agent Maria Hill.
