Based upon James Thurber's 1939 short story of the same name, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is directed and produced by Stiller, who also stars as the eponymous Mitty, a mild-mannered TIME magazine photographer who daydreams of an escape from his mundane life. Stiller is joined in the cast by Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Sean Penn (Gangster Squad), Adam Scott (Step Brothers), Shirley MacLaine (Terms of Endearment), Kathryn Hahn (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burdgundy) and Patton Oswalt (Young Adult).
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is set for release on Christmas Day in North America and opens here in the UK on Boxing Day.
