The recent Beverly Hills Cop TV pilot may have failed to make it to series, but that doesn't mean we've seen the last of Axel Foley, with Deadline reporting that Eddie Murphy has signed on to reprise the role of the fast-talking, street-wise Detroit police detective for Beverly Hills Cop 4.
The project is apparently "moving fast" at Paramount Pictures, whose executive were impressed by the interest in the TV pilot from Shawn Ryan (The Shield), which saw Murphy returning as Axel for a "scene-stealing turn" alongside Brandon T. Jackson (Fast & Furious) as Foley Jr.
According to Deadline's report, screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) have been brought in to pen the script for this latest instalment in the series, and the first since 1994's Beverly Hills Cop III.
