Over the past couple of months, we've heard plenty from the cast and crew of The CW's Arrow stating that the upcoming second season of the hit superhero show would see an expansion in the show's roster of DC Comics characters, with leading man Stephen Amell even going so far as to suggest the introduction of characters "more familiar than Green Arrow."
Of course, with the new season set to include a trip to Bludhaven (a city which has already been mentioned several times on the show), there's been plenty of speculation that Dick Grayson's Nightwing could be one of these characters, but it seems that Warner Bros.' big Comic-Con announcement that Batman is set to join Henry Cavill's Superman for a 2015 sequel to Man of Steel may have put those plans to rest.
"We've heard the fans and we're very well aware that they would like to see Nightwing and various other Bat-characters on the show," said executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim during a SDCC press conference. "[But] that is a little bit out of our control, [and] I think [that movie] announcement made it a lot more out of our control!"
So, with Nightwing and any other Batman or Superman-related characters seemingly off the table, does that also extend to The Flash and the other members of the Justice League, with Warner Bros. rumoured to be setting those two properties for the big screen treatment in 2016 and 2017.
Arrow season 2 will get underway in the States on Wednesday, October 9th, with new additions to the cast so far including Celina Jade (The Man with the Iron Fists) as Shado, Summer Glau (Firefly) as Isabel Rochev, Caity Lotz (The Pact) as Dinah Drake, Kevin Alejandro (True Blood) as Brother Blood and Michael Jai White (The Dark Knight) as Bronze Tiger.
