To coincide with yesterday's Doctor Who panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International, the BBC has officially announced that three incarnations of The Doctor - Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt - will team-up to battle the Time Lord's arch-enemies the Daleks in the 50th anniversary special of the British sci-fi institution. Here's three images from the special, featuring the dreaded Daleks...
The Daleks are the second monster to be announced for the 50th anniversary special after the shape shifting Zygons, whose previous sole appearance came during the Tom Baker era in 1975. Meanwhile the Daleks' history can be traced back to 1963, having tussled with William Hartnell in the series' second serial.
The Doctor Who 50th anniversary special is set to air on BBC One on November 23rd, with Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt also joined in the cast by Jenna-Louise Coleman, Billie Piper and Joanna Page.
In other Who-related news, the BBC has also released an image of David Bradley (Game of Thrones) as William Hartnell in the upcoming docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time...
An Adventure in Space and Time is set to air later this year.
