Electro arrives in first look footage from The Amazing Spider-Man 2

It's certainly going to be a big weekend for fans of superheroes at Comic-Con, what with Marvel Studios set to showcase Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and a few other surprises, 20th Century Fox unveiling its plans for the X-Men universe and Warner Bros. expected to follow suit with its various DC properties post-Man of Steel. But before all that, Sony will take to Hall H on Friday with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and to get the ball rolling for tomorrow the studio has released some first-look footage from next year's superhero sequel which introduces Jamie Foxx's (Django Unchained) new villain Electro. "In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker, life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves,, high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past."


The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on May 2nd, 2014, with a cast that also includes the returning Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker / Spider-Man), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and Sally Field (Aunt May) alongside Spidey newcomers Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Paul Giamatti (Sideways), Chris Cooper (American Beauty), Felicity Jones (Breathe In) and Colm Feore (Thor).
