UK box office top ten and analysis for the weekend of Friday 5th - Sunday 7th June 2013...
After an enormous opening last weekend, Universal's Despicable Me 2 continued to dominate the UK box office in its second week, adding another £4 million to give the CG-animated comedy sequel a bumper £23 million to date, meaning it's already overtaken the £20.2 million haul laid down by its predecessor back in 2010.
Putting up the biggest challenge to Despicable Me 2 was Louis Leterrier's star-studded crime caper Now You See Me, which debuted in second place with £2,898,997, followed by another new release The Internship, with the Vince Vaughn / Owen Wilson comedy amassing £1,248,431 to claim third.
Shifting further down the chart, three limited releases managed to place in the top ten in their opening weekend, with Sofia Copolla's The Bling Ring pulling in £141,425 in seventh, Bollywood romance Lootera banking £69,153 in eighth, and Tamil action sequel Singam II earning an impressive £65,806 from just 14 screens to finish up in ninth.
