The promotional campaign for Spike Lee's upcoming English language remake of South Korean filmmaker Chan-wook Park's cult 2003 revenge thriller Oldboy has kicked off today with the release of a new poster, paving the way for the arrival of the first theatrical trailer this coming Wednesday...
"Oldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment."
Oldboy sees Josh Brolin (Men in Black 3) leading the cast alongside Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Sharlto Copley (Elysium), Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained), Richard Portnow (Law Abiding Citizen), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) and Lance Reddick (The Wire). The film opens in North America on October 25th ahead of a UK release on December 6th.
