Rounding up the Marvel and DC animated announcements from the 2012 New York Comic Con, including Marvel's Avengers Assemble, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., Ultimate Spider-Man, Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, Superman: Unbound, Justice League: Flashpoint, Lego Batman: DC Heroes Unite and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2...
While the big news from Saturday's NYCC Marvel Television Presents panel was the return of Clark Gregg's Agent Phil Coulson for Joss Whedon's live-action S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series, it was also announced that two of Marvel Animation's upcoming shows - Marvel's Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. - will premiere on Disney XD's Marvel Universe programming block in the summer of 2013.

Along with the above promo art, an official press release offered up a brief synopsis of both shows, along with details of the voice casts:
"In Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, an animated series parallel to the record-breaking blockbuster movie Marvel’s The Avengers, Iron Man leads the team of mightiest heroes – Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow and newcomer Falcon – who combine their powers to battle threats no single hero could overcome. When the Avengers assemble, evil doesn’t stand a chance. The voice cast includes: Adrian Pasdar (Heroes) as Iron Man, Fred Tatasciore (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness) reprising his role as Hulk, Roger Craig Smith (Wreck-It Ralph) as Captain America, Travis Willingham (Shelf Life) as Thor, Troy Baker (Ultimate Spider-Man) as Hawkeye, Laura Bailey (The Super Hero Squad Show) as Black Widow and Bumper Robinson (The Game) as Falcon. Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle of Man of Action Studios (Ben 10, Generator Rex) will serve as executive producers."

The creative talents of Emmy Award-winning Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series, Lost) and Henry Gilroy (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) have been tapped for this series. Along with Marvel's Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., the panel also featured an update on season two of Disney XD's Ultimate Spider-Man, which included the unveiling of the Sinister Six - well, five members at least, with Kraven the Hunter, The Rhino, Electro, The Beetle and The Lizard set to be joined by a mystery sixth super villain. Meanwhile, Marvel also debuted the trailers for two upcoming direct-to-video animated features in Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United and the anime Iron Man: Rise of Technovore - watch them both here.

Moving on to DC and it was announced that comedian Conan O'Brien has joined the voice cast of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 as Dave Endochrine, the talk show host who interviews The Joker following his release from Arkham. O'Brien will feature alongside Peter Weller (RoboCop) as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Ariel Winter (Modern Family) as Carrie Kelley / Robin, Michael Emerson (Lost) as The Joker, Mark Valley (Human Target) as Clark Kent / Superman, David Selby (The Social Network) as Jim Gordon, Maria Canals (Justice League) as Ellen Yindel, Michael McKean (This Is Spinal Tap) as Dr. Bartholomew Wolper and Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) as Lana Lang.
Warner Bros. also revealed details of the next two instalments in their direct-to-video 'DC Universe Animated Original Movie' line: Superman: Unbound, which is based upon the 'Superman: Brainiac' story arc by Geoff Johns; and Justice League: Flashpoint, an adaptation of the limited series 'Flashpoint' which lead to DC relaunched New 52 last year.
