Jaws movie poster
Movies have been a prime source of popular art throughout the last century and up to present day, so it’s little wonder that many of the billboard posters associated with these films have become somewhat iconic. Posters like those issued by Attack of the 50ft Woman, Vertigo, Silence of the Lambs, E.T., The Exorcist and Jaws have all entered our popular psychology with their striking billboard imagery. Perhaps you would like to adorn your bathroom with a quirky Jaws theme or stamp your identity on your home, bedroom or office with a tasteful Vertigo poster; whichever you might prefer, a good source of tailored posters is Instant Print posters.

Steven Spielberg’s E.T. is a modern classic and seems to recapture the childhood experience of innocent Sci-Fi during the 80s.  The artwork for the film is both striking and laden with possible themes.  There are a couple of recognised posters with the most striking being the one where E.T. and presumably Elliott are touching fingers, stylistically reminiscent of the Genesis-type scene of the Sistine chapel.  E.T.’s other worldly finger reaching out to humanity seems to symbolise an age where man had landed on the moon and our fantasies were running wild about what kind of connections we could make with the cosmos.  For any scientists or sci-fi fans, the E.T. poster could be conceived as a statement about scientific progress or merely as a reminder of a film that captivated them as kids.  The Super 8 poster from J.J. Abrams’ recent sci-fi adventure bares some similarities.  Obtain film posters easily from sources like Instant Print posters who can tailor to your specifications at a minimal fee.

Other sci-fi fans may prefer the classic Alien poster; a piece of understated brilliance that invites the viewer into the film with a sense of foreboding and intrigue.  The picture of a cracking egg yielding an otherworldly light with the tag line ‘In space no one can hear you scream’ would have been a great draw to anyone who already had a preconception of the films basic premise. There is a parallel there with the great Exorcist poster.  Suggestion and subtlety have been key artistic themes of great art throughout the ages; how do you bring a picture to life without an obvious narrative?  The Exorcist poster does this with great aplomb by showing a silhouette of the priest standing outside of a lonely house with light gushing from a single window.  This clever trick is similar to the one used in the Alien poster in that it draws the viewer in towards their fear and provokes intense anticipation.  Sci-fi posters can be bought from Instant Print posters for a minimal fee and fast delivery...
