Terminator reboot to arrive in June 2015

A few weeks back action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger said that he was preparing to return to his signature role as The Terminator, with filming on the long-rumoured Terminator 5 set to begin early next year. Well it looks as if those comments were accurate, only it's not Terminator 5 as such, but rather a reboot of the classic sci-fi action series, with Skydance Productions, Annapurna Pictures and Paramount Pictures announcing that a rebooted Terminator movie will arrive in cinemas on June 26th 2015.

Described as the first in a stand-alone trilogy, Terminator will be produced by Megan Ellison (Zero Dark Thirty, Spring Breakers) and David Ellison (Star Trek Into Darkness, World War Z), with Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) attached as screenwriters. The official press release makes no mention about Arnie returning to the franchise, although you would expect him to cameo at the very least. Meanwhile it's also been rumoured recently that Paramount could be looking to Dwayne Johnson (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Fast & Furious 6) to star as the latest incarnation of Skynet's unstoppable killing machine, but again nothing is official at this point in time.
