As we wait for Edgar Wright's long-in-development Ant-Man adaptation, the British filmmaker will fill the gap next year with the third and final instalment in his Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, reteaming with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg (who also serves as co-writer) and Nick Frost for the 'social sci-fi' pub-crawl epic The World's End, and thanks to Empire we now have a new teaser poster for the hotly-anticipated comedy:

Specific plot for The World's End remains highly secretive, although considering the title - not to mention the inclusion of an asteroid on the new poster, and the tagline "Good food. Fine ales. Total annihilation" - it's probably safe to assume the film will feature some kind of Roland Emmerich-style Armageddon. Anyway, here's the official synopsis:

"In The World’s End, 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realise the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries."

Joining Pegg and Frost in the cast of The World's End are Martin Freeman (Shaun of the Dead, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz, The Bourne Ultimatum), Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes), and Rosamund Pike (Jack Reacher). The film is set to open on August 14th, 2013.
