The new trailer for the forthcoming Gangster Squad has been revealed today and it sure does increase the level of anticipation for the Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) directed action film. The trailer captures Sean Penn (The Tree of Life) as ruthless Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen in full on bad guy mode delivering superb over the top threat’s such as “I’m God, you better swear to me!” and Ryan Gosling (Drive) in full on hero mode, gunning down bad guys and sweeping ladies off their feet, namely the beautiful Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man). It gives us a no hold barred, all action glimpse into what we can expect from the highly anticipated film when it is released in January 2013 - all set to the pulsating Jay-Z track “Oh My God” from his 2006 album 'Kingdom Come'.
Gangster Squad was due to be released earlier this year but was delayed as certain scenes were cut from the final edit - namely a sequence that included a cinema shooting, which has been removed due to the tragic shootings in Aurora.
From this latest trailer, Gangster Squad looks like a stylish, intriguing, potentially epic movie experience... let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint.
