First came the news that the hotly-anticipated Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has been pushed back ten months to August 22nd, 2014, and now comes word that Open Road Films has decided to move the release date for Robert Rodriguez's other forthcoming sequel Machete Kills. However, unlike the Sin City sequel, this time it's just three weeks, with the follow-up to 2010's Grindhouse spin-off now set to arrive in the States on October 4th, where it will compete against Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi drama Gravity, as opposed to its original date of September 13th.
In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
Joining Trejo in the cast of Machete Kills are returning stars Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Tom Savini and Electra and Elise Avellan, while new additions include Vanessa Hudgens (Spring Breakers), Amber Heard (Drive Angry), Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), Antonio Banderas (Desperado), Sofía Vergara (Modern Family), Demian Bichir (A Better Life), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness), Cuba Gooding Jr. (Red Tails), William Sadler (Iron Man 3) and Mel Gibson (Braveheart), along with pop superstar Lady Gaga.
