Despite being one of the most divisive films in recent memory, Prometheus was a solid hit at the box office, with Ridley Scott's sort-of-prequel to his 1979 sci-fi classic Alien pulling in over $400 million worldwide, so it comes as little surprise that 20th Century Fox is keen to push ahead with plans for a sequel.
According to Variety, Fox has tapped screenwriter Jack Paglen (Transendence) to pen the script for the follow-up, which may or may not see Ridley Scott returning to the director's chair (although he is set to at least produce the film through his Scott Free banner). Both Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Days of Future Past) are expected to return to the cast.
While plot details for Prometheus 2 are being kept tightly under wraps, the sequel will presumably see scientist Elizabeth Shaw continuing her quest to understand the motives of the Engineers - and assuming Damon Lindelof is kept far enough away from the script, we might actually get a couple of answers this time too.
