"The missing Doctor has been found! But now the TARDIS has vanished, leaving him and his companion stranded in a strange dimension with seemingly infinite skies!"
A word to describe this comic is “packed”. In just under 30 pages you get so much story that you’ll lose time.
Doctor Who: Sky Jacks (pt 2 of 4), runs straight on from the first fantastic instalment in issue #9, those who missed the first part should either check out my review or if you're too busy to have a look at it (heartless swine) you’re given a small re-cap in amongst the opening pages, as Andy Diggle and Eddie Robson (the writers of this tale) are kind like that.
We catch up with the Doctor who has been working on this giant airfield/platform, helping travellers, for the past three years. However to Clara, she last spoke with the Doctor yesterday in the TARDIS. The Doctor explains that three years back the TARDIS stopped after it had been suffering with a few technically issues, landing in an empty void. The Doctor was drawn outside by the sound of the Cloister Bell then the TARDIS vanished and everything went white. For these three years the Doctor has been working on a TARDIS Locator, but he cannot get it to work correctly. We are led from here to a rampaging horde of sword wielding members of the Cataak Cartel, a Steampunk nuclear powered World War II bomber and a long flight to a wall. The story moves along at an exciting pace and to be honest at the first explanation on the (possibly defunct) TARDIS Locator, I’d twigged what the Doctor and company were going to find. This doesn’t cause any loss of fun from the story though.
Again the art and colours from Andy Kuhn and Charlie Kirchoff respectively may not be everyone's cup of tea, and as you see from my review of issue #9 I wasn’t initially keen on what my eyes showed me. However, after a few pages you see how good the artwork and colouring is and how well it goes with the speed and pace of the story as it zips on by. The energy alone in this comic could power Rye and Romney Marsh for two months straight.
Buy this and if you haven’t bought Part 1 of Sky Jacks, buy that too!
