Johnson's other credits include Nowhere Boy, Chatroom, Savages and Anna Karenina, and he is currently filming Legendary Pictures' Godzilla reboot, which is due out next year. It's also noteworthy that another Kick-Ass star Evan Peters - who dropped out of Kick-Ass 2 for American Horror Story - will also be playing the character of Quicksilver in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The Avengers 2 is due to hit cinemas in 2015, with writer-director Joss Whedon expected to reunite the likes of Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (The Incredible Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).
