It's been out less than a week in the UK and it's not even out in the States, but it looks like The Purge 2 is already on the cards according to The Wrap.

The site lists The Purge 2 alongside 13 other movies and 17 TV productions that have been conditionally approved for California tax credits.

Being so early in the day, there is no word on whether this will even make it into production and it could end up going straight to DVD. However, given the idea behind The Purge, there is a lot of potential to tell interesting stories.

In an America wracked by crime, the government has sanctioned an annual 12-hour period in which any and all criminal activity—including murder—is legal. The police can’t be called. Hospitals suspend help. It is one night when the citizenry regulates itself without thought of punishment. On this night plagued by violence and an epidemic of crime, one family wrestles with the decision of who they will become when a stranger comes knocking.

The Purge is currently in cinemas and stars Ethan Hawke (Sinister), Lena Headey (Dredd 3D), Max Burkholder (Daddy Day Care) and Adelaide Kane (Power Rangers R.P.M). It is written and directed by James DeMonaco (writer of Assault on Precinct 13) and produced by Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity).
