Ryan Reynolds (
Green Lantern,
Safe House) is currently in talks to star in the psychological thriller
The Voices, which is to be directed by Academy Award nominee Marjane Satrapi (
Persepolis) from a script by Michael R. Perry (
Paranormal Activity 2).
According to
Deadline, the film has an unusual premise with Reynolds in talks to play Jerry Hickfang, a lovable but strange bathtub factory worker who yearns for the attention of a woman in accounting. When their relationship takes a sudden murderous turn, Jerry’s evil talking cat and benevolent talking dog lead him down a fantastical path that ultimately brings him to salvation.
The Canadian actor has recently signed on to play the lead in the
Highlander reboot so he will have to start working on his Scottish accent to play the immortal swordsman who faces off with other immortal warriors in the reboot of the 1986 classic. Reynolds - who received critical acclaim in 2010 for his role as Paul Conroy in the thriller
Buried - is also set to star in
R.I.P.D, a comic book adaptation about a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department, so 2013 looks to be a busy year for the talented actor.
