Marvel replacing composer on Thor: The Dark World, unhappy with director Alan Taylor?

After getting Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe off to a fine start with the blockbuster sequel Iron Man 3, this week has brought rumours that all may not be well behind the scenes on Marvel Studios' next offering Thor: The Dark World.

According to a report on Film Score Monthly, composer Carter Burwell (True Grit) has left the sequel, while the Marvel is also said to be unhappy with director Alan Taylor (Game ofThrones), who has allegedly been asked "to take a long vacation AFTER the film opens." While we're yet to hear anything official about Taylor's status on Thor: The Dark World, Deadline has now "exclusively" revealed that Burwell is indeed off the sequel in what is being described as "a creative split". As yet, there's no word on a new composer, although Marvel is said to be close to announcing a replacement.

Thor: The Dark World is set for release on October 30th in the UK and November 8th in North America, with a cast that inlcudes returning Thor stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Rene Russo (Frigga), Stellan Skarsgård (Erik Selvig), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Ray Stevenson, (Volstagg) Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Tadanobu Asano (Hogun) and Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis), along with Marvel newcomers Zachary Levi (Chuck) as Fandral, Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) as Malekith the Accursed, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) as Algrim the Strong / Kurse.
