Timecop was originally based upon the Dark Horse Comics story Time Cop by writer Mike Verheiden and artists Phil Hester and Chris Warner, and proved to be one of Van Damme's biggest successes, banking over $103 million from a budget of just $27 million. It spawned a short-lived TV series of the same name, which aired on ABC in 1997, as well as the direct-to-video sequel Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision starring Jason Scott Lee.
Originally announced back in 2010, this latest version of Timecop is described as "a reboot and reimagining of the concept" and is to be produced by Marc Shmuger (We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks). As yet, there's now word on a potential director, casting or release date.
