It may be still be a way away, but over the last few months, the long-gestating and hugely anticipated sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues has been filming in and around Atlanta.
Original stars Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Christina Applegate have all been spotted on set, as well as new additions Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Greg Kinnear and Harrison Ford. But as with most big Hollywood films these days, secrecy is the name of the game, and not much is known about the story for the film.
One thing that has had people salivating even more is the spade of cameos that are set to be included in the film. In addition to Harrison Ford, it was reported that Nicole Kidman, Ferrell’s Bewitched co-star, was making a cameo, alongside possible returning cameo-ists Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson, as well as rumoured appearances from John C. Reilly and Mark Wahlberg.
Today however some potentially huge news has broke from Access Atlanta. They are reporting no less than four new possible cameos from Hollywood megastars.
Firstly, they have reported that two of Hollywood’s funniest females and former SNL co-stars of Ferrell, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, have jumped on board to cameo. No news of course on what they are doing in the film, but with their long history with Ferrell and co-writer and director Adam McKay (a former SNL writer) it is no shock to see their names mentioned. Some of you Anchorman aficionados will know that Poehler is actually “in” the first film, but her scenes were cut only to be reused in the “lost” Ron Burgundy film Wake Up, Ron Burgundy, which you can still see on YouTube.
Additionally, the site reports two potentially huge bits of cameo goodness: firstly, Ferrell’s Talladega Nights co-star Sacha Baron-Cohen will appear as a rival anchorman, while Hollywood megastar Will Smith is also reportedly involved in the project in another unknown role. Will Smith returns to comedy? Great Odin’s Raven!
Anchorman: The Legend Continues is released in the UK and USA on December 20th.
