According to The Hollywood Reporter, the stars of this year's two biggest comic book movies could be set to team up for Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse, with Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) said to have entered talks to appear alongside Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) as the female lead in the futuristic sci-fi thriller, while departing Fox chairman Tom Rothman has also joined the project as producer.
Based on the novel by Daniel H. Wilson and adapted for the screen by Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), Robopocalypse centres on the fate of humanity following a robot uprising and is set to be Spielberg's next project following the release of his upcoming biopic Lincoln. It is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on April 25th, 2014.
Hathaway will next be seen in the musical Les Misérables and is also set to lend her voice to the animated sequel Rio 2, while Hemsworth has a host of projects in the pipeline, including the Red Dawn remake, the currently in production Thor: The Dark World, and fellow sequels Snow White and the Huntsman 2 and The Avengers 2.
Update: Variety are also reporting that Ben Wishaw (Cloud Atlas, Skyfall) is being eyed for the role of a hacker called Lurker, and although the actor is yet to receive an official offer he is said to have topped DreamWorks and 20th Century Fox's wishlist since the casting process began.
