Pretty straight forward then - but this is usually Mr Craven's response whenever asked about returning to the franchise.
Scream rejuvenated the dying slasher genre in 1995 by pointing out all of the clichés while still taking itself seriously. It was a novel 'self aware' concept that Craven had previously tried with his Nightmare on Elm Street series in Wes Craven's New Nightmare. The movie spawned two more sequels in 1997 and 2000 before getting a fourth entry in 2011.
Should Craven turn down the TV show, it will be the first entry into the Scream franchise without his involvement.
The TV series currently doesn't have a writer or director, but is being developed by the team behind The Hills, Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley.
