Fresh from the ratings success of its latest sci-fi series Revolution, which premiered in the States this past Monday, J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions has landed a new pilot production commitment from NBC for a high-concept drama that will see Abrams (Lost, Star Trek) teaming up with director Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban).

According to Deadline, the as-yet-untitled series will centre on "a girl in possession of a great gift/powers - which will come into their own in seven years - and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down". The pilot will be directed by Cuarón, who will also co-write the script with Mark Friedman (Home of the Brave, The Forgotten), and the duo are set to executive-produce alongside Abrams and Bad Robot's Bryan Burk.

This marks the second pilot Bad Robot has sold this year, with the production company also developing a cop drama for Fox which is set in a world where robots co-exist with humans. In addition to Revolution, the company also has a further two shows on the air - the sci-fi series Fringe and crime drama Person of Interest, along with Abrams' upcoming feature sequel Star Trek Into Darkness.
