Following the recent announcement that Tom Hooper's (The King's Speech) adaptation of the stage play Les Misérables has been moved to a Christmas Day release in North America, Universal has released an extended behind-the-scenes video giving us an insight into the upcoming musical, which you can check out below (via Dark Horizons)...
Les Miserables sees Hugh Jackman (The Wolverine) leading the cast as Jean Valjean alongside Russell Crowe's (Man of Steel) Police Inspector Javert, while the film also stars Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises), Sacha Baron Cohen (The Dictator), Helena Bonham Carter (Dark Shadows), Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn), Amanda Seyfried (In Time) and Aaron Tveit (Gossip Girl).
"Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever."
Les Misérables will be released on Christmas Day in the U.S. and arrives in the UK on January 11th, 2013. Watch the first teaser trailer here.
