Yesterday it was announced that British actress Ophelia Lovibond had joined the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, and now comes word that director James Gunn has added another name in Lee Pace, with TheWrap reporting that The Hobbit star is currently finalising a deal to portray the villain in the big space epic (whether that's Thanos, The Collector, or A.N. Other, we're yet to discover).
Best known for his role in the TV series Pushing Daisies, Pace's star has been rising lately, with roles in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, Lincoln and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, where he plays Thranduil, the father of Orlando Bloom's Legolas. Pace is set to return for the remaining instalments of Peter Jackson's trilogy, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
With just a couple of months to go until cameras start rolling on Guardians of the Galaxy, the cast of Marvel's cosmic superhero team-up is starting to take shape. Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) will play the Guardians' leader Star-Lord, with Dave Bautista (Riddick) as Drax the Destroyer, Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora and Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) as Yondu.
