Sylvester Stallone has announced that he's found a director to take over the reigns from Simon West on the third instalment in the aging action icon franchise The Expendables, and no - it's not Mel Gibson. Instead, Stallone has revealed via Twitter that he's turned to up-and-coming Australian filmmaker Patrick Hughes - director of the rather fantastic Aussie Western Red Hill - and while The Hollywood Reporter is suggesting that producers Millennium are yet to sign off on Hughes, a deal is expected to be confirmed.
The Expendables 3 is expected to reunite much of the cast from the previous two movies, including the likes of Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and Jet Li. Jackie Chan and Wesley Snipes have both been reported as joining in the action for the third movie, while producer Avi Lerner has said his wish-list includes Nicolas Cage and the rather more ambitious Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood.
Now that Sly has found his director for The Expendables 3, who would you like to see joining the cast?
