Man of SteelThe Man of Steel has taken a bit of a back seat lately as Marvel Studios moves full-steam ahead with the promotional campaign on the impending Iron Man 3, but Warner Bros. has now offered Superman fans a little something, releasing a brief new synopsis for the Zack Snyder-directed reboot Man of Steel via the official website, as well as dropping the first TV spot for the hotly-anticipated summer blockbuster.

"A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind."

There's not really anything new in that synopsis, but the TV spot does include a few snippets of new footage; check it out...

Man of Steel is set for release on June 14th, with a cast that includes Henry Cavill (Immortals) as Clark Kent / Superman, Amy Adams (The Fighter) as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe (Les Miserables) as Jor-El, Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) as General Zod, Kevin Costner (Hatfields & McCoys) as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane (Secretariat) as Martha Kent, Laurence Fishburne (Contagion) as Perry White, Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons) as Lara Lor-Van and Antje Traue (Pandorum) as Faora.
