Earth will fall in new Star Trek Into Darkness poster

It's a big day for Trekkers in the UK tomorrow as tickets go on sale for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness, and to build our excitement even further Paramount Pictures has released a new poster for the wildly-anticipated sci-fi showcasing Benedict Cumberbatch's mysterious villain 'John Harrison', and the trail of destruction left in his wake...

"When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew."

Star Trek Into Darkness sees Chris Pine (Kirk), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Karl Urban (Bones), Simon Pegg (Scotty), John Cho (Sulu), Anton Yelchin (Checkov) and Bruce Greenwood (Pike) returning to the cast, while Cumberbatch is joined by fellow Trek newcomers Alice Eve (Men in Black 3), Peter Weller (RoboCop), Nazneen Contractor (24), Noel Clarke (Doctor Who) and Nolan North (Young Justice).

Star Trek Into Darkness is set for a UK release on May 9th and opens in North America on May 17th.
