After shunting the release of The Great Gatsby back almost five months from its original Christmas Day 2012 date, Warner Bros. has now resumed the promotional campaign for director Baz Luhrmann's (Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!) adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel by debuting a brand new trailer for the eagerly-awaited film, which features music from the likes of Andre 3000, Beyonce, Florence and the Machine and Lana Del Rey.
The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio (Django Unchained) as Gatsby, Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man) as Nick Carraway and Carey Mulligan (Shame) as Daisy Buchanan. Featuring in the supporting cast are Joel Edgerton (The Odd Life of Timothy Green), Isla Fisher (Bachelorette), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) and Adelaide Clemens (Silent Hill: Revelation). Check out the official synopsis, followed by the new trailer below:
"The Great Gatsby follows would-be writer Nick Carraway (Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio), and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Mulligan), and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Edgerton). It is here that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles."
The Great Gatsby opens in North America on May 10th, followed by a UK release on May 16th.
