Coinciding with the television return of Matt Smith's Time Lord for the latest batch of Doctor Who episodes, artist Dan Norton has posted a series of images from a proposed Doctor Who animated series, which would have explored all incarnations of the Doctor, were it not for the fact that the BBC decided to apply the breaks in order to focus on the live-action TV series.
Norton, who has written for DC Comics, as well as serving as art director on the rebooted Thundercats series, posted the following pitch poster, along with a number of concept drawings for the various Doctors, ranging right through from William Hartnell to Matt Smith...
Had the BBC decided to move forward with the series, it would not have been the first animated adventures in space and time for the Doctor, with the iconic British sci-fi character having appeared in cartoon form in the 40th anniversary BBC web series Doctor Who: Scream of the Shalka featuring Richard E. Grant as the Doctor (which you can view here), as well as the two animated serials Doctor Who: The Infinite Quest and Doctor Who: Dreamland starring David Tennant's Tenth Doctor and Freema Agyeman's Martha Jones.
