This morning we brought you some concept art from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy [which you can view here, if you haven't already done so], and now we have a couple more tidbits from Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
First up comes a report from On Location Vacations suggesting that cameras are now rolling on the Captain America sequel at Marvel Studios / Manhattan Beach Studios in California. Filming on The Winter Soldier had originally been scheduled for this month, although there had been reports recently that Marvel were looking to push the shoot back until to June. It's said that the shoot is taking place on a closed set and will move to Cleveland, OH next month for location filming.
Captain America: The Winter Solider is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Community), with a cast that includes Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Maximiliano Hernandez as Jasper Sitwell and Toby Jones as Arnim Zola. Newcomers to the MCU include Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / The Falcon, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow / Crossbones, Georges St-Pierre as Batroc the Leaper, and Robert Redford in an as-yet-unrevealed S.H.I.E.L.D. role. The sequel is currently set for release on April 4th, 2014.
Looking further ahead and it seems that Joss Whedon's The Avengers 2 will follow in the footsteps of Captain America: The First Avenger and the upcoming Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man by heading to the UK for its shoot next year, with Screen Daily revealing that Shepperton Studios will host the hotly-anticipated sequel. So far virtually nothing is known about The Avengers 2, although it's expected that Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Rufallo (The Incredible Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) will all be back, along with a couple of new faces. The Avengers 2 is set for release on May 1st, 2015
