In news that will come as absolutely no surprise to anyone, HBO has made the decision to renew the hit fantasy series Game of Thrones for a fourth season, wasting precious little time in making the announcement after the season three opener 'Valar Dohaeris' pulled in a record 4.4 million viewers with its premiere on Sunday night.
As well as delivering record ratings for HBO, 'Valar Dohaeris' also has the distinction of becoming the most pirated TV show ever according to TorrentFreak, with over a million downloads recorded over a 24 hour period (shattering the previous record for the season three premiere of Heroes with 144,663).
Game of Thrones is based upon the epic fantasy A Song of Ice and Fire by American author George R.R. Martin, with season three adapting the first half of the third book, A Storm of Swords.
