Thanks to Television Promos, we have our first look at Under the Dome, which is based on the Stephen King (The Shining, It) novel of the same name and adapted by Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina). The 13 part mini-series is brought to us by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and the pilot is directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), so already this sounds rather exciting.
Starring Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Mike Vogel (The Help) and Natalie Martinez (Death Race... ahhh umm) amongst others, Under the Dome involves a mysterious dome appearing and totally encasing a small town called Chester Mill in Maine (no surprise on the Maine). All 2000+ residents are unaware why, as is the viewer. Slowly the people of Chester Mill begin to unravel as electricity, water, gas and clean air quickly begin to dwindle. Everyone is trapped no matter what walk of life they have led, or taken.
At this time we are unsure if the show will end with a four fingered yellow buffoon saving the day, but I do hope a local newspaper reports the dome incident as “Trappuccino”.
Under the Dome begins airing in June on CBS.
