Cliff Secord meets Denny Colt this summer thanks to IDW Publishing and DC Entertainment; the two pulp heroes will be appearing in The Rocketeer/The Spirit: Pulp Fiction which is being written by Mark Waid and drawn by Paul Smith.“Not many writers have been lucky enough to write The Rocketeer or The Spirit,” said Mark Waid, “so I feel like I’ve won the lottery. This is one of the most exciting—and scariest—assignments I’ve ever undertaken. Luckily, I’ve got Paul Smith to make me look good!” Editor Scott Dunbier is the pleased with the murder mystery filled with political intrigue that brings together the signature characters created by Dave Stevens and Will Eisner. “This is one of those ideas that just makes me smile,” remarked Dunbier. “I’m a long-time fan of both characters and it’s an honour to work on it. And if Mark won the lottery, I hit the Powerball, baby!”

As WonderCon 2013 comes to a close IDW Publishing has announced the publication of a 256-page, full-colour hardcover book titled Visual Funk: Jim Mahfood Art. Readers will discover a collection of sketches, concepts, designs, drawings, and photos which celebrate the artistry of Mahfood who has produced everything from comic books, illustrations, animation, advertising art, murals and gallery shows.“Visual Funk is my ultimate art book; a long overdue, massive collection of my best work from all different mediums from the last five years,” said Mahfood. “We've put a lot of tender loving care into this book and I think people's senses will be stimulated in all the right ways.
