Now that Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. have locked in a November 2014 release date for Christopher Nolan's next offering, the acclaimed director appears to be wasting little time in assembling a cast for the mysterious sci-fi epic Interstellar, which is set to "depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding."
While we can probably expect a selection of Nolan regulars (Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard and so on) to board the project in the coming months, the first name to be linked to the cast of Interstellar is that of Matthew McConaughey, with Deadline reporting that the actor has been offered the male lead, a character called Cooper.
McConaughey is enjoy a career resurgence of sorts lately, with well-received performances in the likes of The Lincoln Lawyer, Bernie, Killer Joe and Magic Mike. He can currently be seen in UK cinemas alongside Zac Efron, John Cusack and Nicole Kidman in The Paperboy, and later this year as an AIDS-suffering medicine smuggler in The Dallas Buyer's Club and alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street.
