The cast of the upcoming sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes continues to take shape, with Vulture reporting today that Judy Greer (Arrested Development, The Descendants) has signed on to portray the female chimp Cornelia (via performance-capture, obviously), who was briefly seen in the 2011 reboot where she was played by Devyn Dalton. The character's role will be expanded for the sequel, serving as a love interest for Greer's 13 Going on 30 co-star Andy Serkis' head ape Caeser
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), who stepped in as a replacement for RotPotA helmer Rupert Wyatt after Wyatt withdrew from the sequel. The film is set to take place 15 years after the first movie, with a cast that so far includes Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, RoboCop), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, White House Down), Keri Russell (Felicity, Dark Skies) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Road, Let Me In).
Filming on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to get underway next month ahead of a planned release date of May 23rd, 2014.
