Bruce Willis (Looper, The Expendables 2) is in negotiations to star in the thriller American Assassin. The film is an adaptation of Vince Flynn's novel and the script has been written by Mike Finch (Predators).
Its story focuses on Mitch Rapp, a gifted college scholar and athlete who is recruited into the CIA after his girlfriend is killed in a terrorist attack. After completing his training, he is a man reborn with a mission of retribution.
Willis is in talks to play a CIA agent who acts as a mentor to Rapp, while CBS Films will now begin looking to cast the young lead. Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor) is set to direct, while Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Nick Wechsler will produce. Shooting on American Assassin is due to begin next Autumn.
Willis can next be seen in Looper alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt, which is released in the UK on September 28th. He also has the sequels G.I. Joe: Retaliation, A Good Day to Die Hard, and Red 2 due out next year.
