“This series has been an absolute blast!” says TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman. “To think of how far we’ve come, from when Pete [Laird] and I first self-published these issues on pulp paper, to this absolutely over-the-top amazing presentation. It’s with utmost pride that I can say: this is the best it’s ever looked. This is it. Make room on the top shelf of your bookcase, because that’s where these belong.”
Pre-orders for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Collection (Vol. 2) are effective immediately at http://www.idwlimited.com/series/tmnt.html.
Joe Hill with help of long-time collaborator Jason Ciaramella is turning his original novella Thumbprint into a miniseries for IDW Publishing; the two writers will be accompanied on the three-issue tale by artist Vic Malhota.
When Private Mallory Grennan is dishonorably discharged from the US Army, she hopes to start a new life back home, far away from the things she’d seen and done in Abu Ghraib prison. Mal’s crimes, committed beneath a harsh Arabian sun, throw a shadow long enough to reach all the way to the United States. What started there, will end here – in blood.
"Bringing Thumbprint to life was a challenge for me,” said writer Jason Ciaramella. “Not because the prose was particularly difficult to adapt, but because the themes the story explores are haunting, and deeply disturbing. I had to step out of myself in order to capture the true horror of it without letting my personal agendas seep in." Author Joe Hill adds, “I was blown away by Jason’s work on The Cape, and wanted more. Thumbprint is right in his wheelhouse: Jay has a feel for the psychological flaws that lead a basically good person down the wrong path. And no one writes action quite like Jay – he turns brutality into surreal comedy and back again faster than a magician turning a scarf into a dove. Add to that an opportunity to work with an artist like Vic Malhotra – who draws with a severe grace, and brings to mind the work Mazzucchelli was doing in Batman: Year One– and I think we’ve got all the ingredients for something that can really explode off the page.”
Thumbprint #1 which features a variant cover by Vincent Chong who also worked on the novella arrives in stores on June 19, 2013.
“While we had a lot of fun with the Godzilla®: Legends series, they were just single issues,” said Godzilla®: Rulers of Earth series writer Chris Mowry. “What we’re doing with this series is giving readers that same focus on monsters that Legends had, while telling stories set in IDW’s established Godzilla universe. Readers can look forward to the return of some of our human cast and the introduction of a number of new ones, but the monster roster is larger than it has ever been, using nearly all of Toho’s film creations to give readers battles never before seen. Many of these monsters have never appeared in the comic book/manga medium, so who better to change that but monster artist extraordinaire, Matt Frank?” Series Editor Bobby Curnow stated, "Whether it be Moguera, Biollante, or Gorosaurus, every Toho fanatic has their own favorite monster. Now it's time to see these kaiju in action, and Rulers of Earth won't fail to deliver the goods. It's been a blast to watch Chris and Matt bring their passion to the page."
The entire world is opened up to the flying, stomping, smashing terror that can only come from the gnashing fangs, slashing claws, and otherworldly powers of destruction that these giant monsters wield. What will Godzilla do when he’s suddenly not the only giant lizard in our small pond?
Godzilla®: Rulers of Earth #1 arrives in stores on June 19, 2013 and fans can look forward to series covers by artists Bob Eggleton and Arthur Adams.
