With little in the way of real competition from new arrivals, Disney-Pixar's Brave retains first place at the UK box office in its second full week of release, adding another £2.37m to give it a healthy £13.26mn to date (it opened in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland back at the start of the month). Meanwhile Ted swapped place with The Bourne Legacy, with the Seth MacFarlane comedy climbing one place to second and crossing the £25m mark after four weeks on screens, while The Dark Knight Rises moves up one place to fifth and becomes the highest-grossing UK release of 2012, with its £52.5m overtaking the £51.8m benchmark set by Marvel's The Avengers earlier this year.
In fifth place is the highest new entry of the week, Keith Lemon: The Film, with the British comedy pulling in £1,196,310 to finish up one spot ahead of The Expendables 2, which also managed to break the seven-figure mark. Less fortunate was the Farrelly Brothers' latest offering The Three Stooges, which opened in seventh with £509,324 and pushed Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days and Ice Age: Continental Drift down one place apiece to eighth and ninth respectively. Finally, propping up the chart in tenth was another new release, The Imposter, with the acclaimed documentary earning a solid £252,170 from just 49 screens.
