Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) has teamed up with Solar Pictures to develop Samarkand, a drama focusing on post traumatic stress disorder.He will play an SAS soldier returning from operations in the Middle East who has a difficult time reintegrating back into society after leaving the battlefield.
It will be directed by Greg Williams, who makes his feature debut after his 2011 short film Sergeant Slaughter, My Big Brother (which also starred Hardy) won him Best Director awards at the New York, Chicago and San Francisco short film festivals.The script for Samarkand has been written by Greg and his brother Olly Williams.
Hardy will next be seen in George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road alongside Charlize Theron(Prometheus) and Nicholas Hoult (Jack the Giant Slayer).The busy actor is also attached to the crime drama Animal Rescue with Noomi Rapace, Doug Liman's true-life film Everest, Steven Knight's dramaLocke, and Daniel Espinosa's thrillerChild 44.
