The production of Legendry Pictures's 2014 Godzilla reboot starts next month and the casting news continues to grow. Joining Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) will be French actress Juliette Binoche (The English Paitent) according to Variety.
The website reports that the Camille Claudel, 1915 star is in negotiations to join the movie which is set for release in 2014.
Characters and plot details are still under wraps, but Olsen told Absolute Radio during the red carpet of the BAFTAs that we can expect this Godzilla reboot to have a very dark tone more like the original 1954 movie, Gojira:
"It's definitely not light-hearted, It's kind of going back to its roots of the original Japanese film."
Screen writer Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption) also said in an interview last year that, "we're kind of taking a cool new look at it. But with a lot of tradition in the first film. We want this to be a terrifying force of nature. And what was really cool, for me, is there was a very compelling human drama that I got to weave into it."
Godzilla will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters) with a script from Darabont. The release will mark the 60th anniversary of the character.
