Snootchie Bootchies! Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob are returning for a new animated movie, Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie which they will be touring around America across April and May with Q&A sessions akin to what Smith did with Red State.

The movie announcement comes off the back of Kevin Smith revealing that he was working onClerks III which he hopes to have released next year.

The  plot will surround Jay and Silent Bob return as their comic book alter-egos Bluntman and Chronic:

"When they can no longer stomach the ever-growing weed of suburban crime, Jay and Silent Bob take on the mantles of costumed avengers Bluntman and Chronic, super-smashing villains they accidentally create! Can the Doobage Duo save their beloved Jersey 'burbs from their new arch enemies The League of Sh**ters?"

The movie is written by Kevin Smith and will be produced by Jason Mewes who will also reprise his role of Jay. "As an actor it's awesome to play Jay again" says Mewes, "but as a producer I sweated every nickel because I wanted to keep the budget low... and dirty!"

Rounding up the cast is the voice talent of Elisha Dushku (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), Tara Strong (Batman: The Animated Series), Ralph Garman (Ted), Neil Gaiman (Doctor Who writer), Ben Glieb (Ice Age: Continental Drift) and Jon Lovitz (The Critic) as well as other hosts of Smith's Smodcast podcast network, which will likely include the cast of Smith's reality TV show Comic Book Men.

Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie will be directed by Canadian animator Steve Stark who tweeted Smith and Mewes an animated short he'd made of the duo's characters for Smith's flagship podcast, Smodcast.

The trailer for the movie will be released on Friday via the Smodcast Youtube channel.
