Before J.J. Abrams turns his attention to a galaxy far, far away for Star Wars: Episode VII, the filmmaker will deliver the hotly-anticipated follow-up to his 2009 Star Trek reboot with Star Trek Into Darkness, and Paramount Pictures has just released a new motion poster for the sci-fi sequel, which you can check out right here:
"When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew."
Star Trek Into Darkness sees Chris Pine (Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Karl Urban (Bones), Simon Pegg (Scotty), John Cho (Sulu), Anton Yelchin (Chekov) and Bruce Greenwood (Pike) all reprising their roles from the 2009 original, while newcomers to the Star Trek franchise include Alice Eve (Men in Black 3), Peter Weller (RoboCop), Nazneen Contractor (24), Noel Clarke (Doctor Who), Nolan North (Young Justice) and Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), who stars as the mysterious antagonist 'John Harrison'. The film is set for release on May 17th.
