The latest crime-drama from popular filmmaker David Ayer (writer of Training Day, The Fast and the Furious and S.W.A.T. and director of Harsh Times) has a new red band trailer. End of Watch stars Jake Gyllenhaal (Zodiac, Prince of Persia) and Michael Peña (Crash, Tower Heist) as a pair of LAPD cops who get on the bad side of a powerful drug cartel after making a significant drug bust.
Ayer’s movies are known for having interesting characters and exciting set pieces, both of which are present in the trailer. However, the ‘twist’ in End of Watch is the use of found-footage.
The found-footage format isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, mainly because of the oversaturation of found-footage horror movies, but End of Watch and some other films released this year, such as Chronicle and The Wedding Video, show that the format can be used effectively in other genres.
End of Watch is set for release on September 21st.
