Ryan Reynolds (Safe House, Buried) is set to star in the psychological thriller Queen of the Night. Atom Egoyan (Chloe, Where the Truth Lies) will direct the film from a script he co-wrote with David Fraser.It tells the story of a father (Reynolds) who discovers a series of disturbing clues eight years after his daughter is abducted. These lead him to believe that the girl (who would now be 17 years old) is alive and he becomes determined to find her. Queen of the Night is a co-production between Egoyan’s Ego Film Arts and The Film Farm, and is due to begin shooting next February in Ontario, Canada.
Egoyan has recently finished shooting the West Memphis Three drama Devil’s Knot, which stars Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth. Reynolds will next be seen in the crime comedy R.I.P.D. alongside Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, and Mary-Louise Parker, which is due out in the UK on June 21st 2013. He is also providing a voice in DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods, with Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone, which is expected to be released on March 22nd 2013.
